a very solid casual korean place in cerritos! the ambiance is super laidback, you order at the front and seat yourself. after you order, you are given a plate for the all you can banchan station. when they call your number, you pick up your order from the front. the banchan is super delicious - the spicy fish cakes were my favorite! the bean sprouts, cucumbers, and pickled radish are also some classic banchan dishes. the soondubu / tofu soup was massive. i got the seafood with mild spice and thought it was a bit spicier than mild. however, it was a really great portion size. my friend got the jjambbong. overall, the food was quite good and i think the portion size, along with the the all you can banchan, makes this place well worth the price and drive. i might not come out of my way to eat here again, but if i were to live a bit closer, i would definitely be a regular. i'd highly recommend!

I was skeptical since there was so much social media hype. The food was good and it was reasonable for the price. This is a very small place so seating may be limited and it won't be ideal if you have a large party. The food may take a while but you can munch on some banchan while you wait. The banchan self service was a nice touch. The selection is a bit limited but overall was good. This is definitely a solid 4 out of 5 and we will be returning!

I used to work on shoemaker and Alondra around 2010 and used to go here a lot when it was still traditional restaurant style. It was a korean lady and her husband plus one Mexican worker and now owner the son at the time used to help with the cleaning the table and everything. As korean, I didn't know what gamjatamg was and this place taught me that so my standard of good gamjatang is measured against somunnan zip gamjatang On the way back to the office from client visit, I would call and pre order one gamjatang and devour that to the bone... good times... now the son took over and some things changed but I hope thus place stays true to their original color to the end

Better than I expected. I guess the 4.5 stars wasn't a joke. We got the following: 1) gamjatang (pork neck bone soup) - this is what the restaurant is known for and it didn't disappoint. It's pretty good & the portions huge for the price. I particularly like the cabbage/vegetable in it. Only con is that I tasted ramen powder. Haha but despite that it was good and I would order again. 2) Dolsot bibimbap- this was probably my favorite. The rice was so crispy on the bottom but not burnt. The toppings plentiful & they gave enough gochujang. 3) Jajangmun - I was skeptical but it was actually pretty good. We actually ordered it bc of our son but everyone in our table enjoyed it. 4) Galbitang - my friend enjoyed it. Portions huge with a lot of meat! The ayce side dishes were cool & pretty good. Service was good. You order at the register & pick up your food. Kinda like fast casual style. If you check in on yelp you get 2 free sodas! :) We will back and if it's consistent may bump up my review to 5 stars!

My son requested to eat here and then I realized I had booked marked a Somunnan Korean restaurant located in Orange County but that ended up closing, so my Spidy Senses say this might be the same owners and that they just relocated. Very happy we fell into this very nice family owned Korean Restaurant. A lot of Korean food options from cold noodles, bibimbap, soondooboo, galbi, and so much more. The nice thing too is the self serve Banchan station. Small variety but nonetheless it was delicious and unlimited. I love sundubu (proper spelling) and here at Somunnan it is reasonably priced. Definitely coming back.

Good food, easy parking, open tables for dinner; not too shabby! We got the chik bibim spicy noodles and the stone pot bibimbap for dinner -both were delicious! You get your own sides by the register and utensils/water were all self serve. They were pretty short staffed on a week day evening, as the waitress in the front tried her best taking orders whilst apologizing to customers for the long wait. Only con for me, was that their tables weren't clean since its self serve, we literally had to wipe down our own tables etc since there were no servers. **check in for 2 FREE SODAS next to the register. Noodles: stringy, cold, and full of flavor; I would definitely get this again. The spice wasn't overpowering and the veggies added a nice crunch to the mix. Bibimbap: Hot and sizzling, you can't go wrong with a good ol'bibimap! Loved the crunchy rice at the bottom of the bowl -yum!

Was craving some Korean food in the area and ended up here! Wanted to try their bibim naengmyun and it was solid! Also had their bibimbap which was good too! This place was interesting because you pick up your own banchan/side dishes (which were pretty good by the way - I really liked their odeng/spicy fish cakes as a side!), and you also pick up your food! I think it would be a great go-to place especially if you live nearby! Decent amount of parking up front!

The food here is topnotch! It's tasty, fresh, and piping hot! Love the all you can eat banchan. My favorites are the soups, pork belly and bulgogi. Heck you can never go wrong with any of their dishes. It's self service but it's pretty easy to order and you get your food right away. The people who work here are respectful. Ambiance is homey and cozy. Love the k-pop music they play all the time. Come this out!
